This coming Monday, October 23, at 5:30 PM, the Baileys Harbor Board of Trustees will review proposed revisions to their STR Ordinance.
Home Hosts has partnered with residents that wanted to clarify how the ordinance would be enforced. The language in the STR ordinance recently passed was unclear and boxed the board in ways that were detrimental to STR owners.
A group of residents and Home Hosts members developed recommendations you will find in the Agenda & Ordinance Revisions (link is also below). See sections IX, X, XI. Our aim was to ensure if there was a problem property, i.e., repeated ordinance violations, that the town had the ability to deny a license. Baileys Harbor has had some problems with party houses. They hurt not only the neighbors but also the reputation of STR owners and encourage oppressive regulatory efforts.
We also know there can be extenuating circumstances and we wanted the town to have the ability to allow an owner that had 3 or more violations to be allowed to operate if there was a logical reason for these and a remedy was in place or planned.
Our Home Hosts attorney has reviewed these changes and believes they are fair to all parties.
If you have any questions after reading these proposed changes, please feel free to email us at: homehostsdoorco@gmail.com.
This type of cooperation between residents and STR owners is exactly what we strive for. Not a we/they but a sharing of concerns, goals and then developing solutions that meet those.
